Moroccan culture is a true melting pot and has been progressively forged according to the occupations known by the country throughout history. The Moroccan people are made of an unusual mixture of races due to the strategic positioning of the country.


Morocco today is a combination of modernity and preservation of traditions. The country strives to protect and to preserve its diversified cultural heritage. Food plays a major role in the Moroccan culture, along with the country's richness itself through aromatic scents, combinations of signature spices, exotic specialties and timeless traditions celebrated all around the world.


The country is a constitutional monarchy. The official language of Morocco is Arabic. However, being a country of tourism, Spanish and French are used in many places, especially in big cities. The largest cities are Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Agadir, Meknes and Rabat.


Foreign students who want to enroll in a higher education institution in Morocco must apply to the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (MAIC) via the Scholarship Department.

An application has to be submitted to the MAIC before 31 July each year. The application must include an application form specifying the fields and institutions requested, an application form provided by the MAIC, copies of your diplomas, notes and so on. If your application is selected, you will receive a summary letter specifying the final registration process. You will need to sign and return this letter to MAIC. Please note that once you have sent the letter, you will not be able to modify your application.


Once you arrived in Morocco, you will have to present yourself to the Department of Executive Education, under the MAIC. You will be able to fill out your registration file, obtain the authorization of registration and cash your first scholarship (if you are a scholarship holder). Once the administrative papers have been duly filled in, contact your training institution to validate the final registration. Do not forget to send a certified copy of the enrollment certificate issued by the institution to the MAIC.




Morocco has a large number of public and private universities, not to mention various technological institutes spread over its territory. French is the main language of instruction in most higher education institutions, many of which also offer Arabic courses. In addition, there are several English institutions.


The organization of studies is world standard (Bachelor-Master-Phd). Morocco also has a large number of major engineering and business schools.
