CULTURE AND INFORMATION PRACTICES

Malaysia has a multi-ethnic, multicultural and multilingual society. The country is a Constitutional, Elective and Federal Monarchy. The king is chosen from among the sovereigns of states constituting Malaysia.

The official language of Malaysia is Malay, English being the second most spoken language.

If the Malays represent the largest community, there are significant minorities of Chinese and Indian. The country is a true ethnic mixing.

Malaysians are very proud of their country and society, which they see as an example of tolerance and respect.

Social conventions are dictated by religion and culture, with different standards depending on whether one is a Muslim Malay, an Indian Hindu, a disciple of the Chinese or Christian religions. The majority of the population is Muslim and it is an Islam State religion.

 

 

 

 

 

COUNTRY PAPERWORK

To be able to study in Malaysia, the student visa applications have to be submitted in advance. Furthermore, since February 1st 2013, foreign students who want to enroll in a university or other institute of higher education in Malaysia are required to enroll with the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS). It is a comprehensive procedure allowing you to search and register for several courses at the same time in different universities. You will be allowed to study in a registered and recognize institution able to offer accredited courses.

The cost of living is low compared to other countries and students are allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours per week while studying in Malaysia, as long as they get a student permit or pass.

Bachelor and Master programs in Malaysian universities take place around the same period as European and American programs.

There are many polytechnic schools that are good vocational schools.

Enrollment in universities is fairly easy and you have to provide your grades from previous years. The country is recognized for its exceptional high-tech programs, business and science.
